Police said it had come to 'officer's attention' that a rumour spread on social media that officers were handing out Covid fines at Judy Woods over the weekend.

However, police confirmed this 'was not the case' and instead officers were speaking to visitors about safe and legal parking to 'ensure all road users' remained safe.

The force said 'officers were present to offer advice to anyone who needed it regarding all matters community and policing'.

In a statement released on Facebook on Monday (February 15), West Yorkshire Police said: "At the weekend, officers from Bradford South and Calderdale Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Teams have been at Judy Woods working together engaging with our communities with the Police Engagement Van.

"Over Saturday and Sunday mornings, the beauty spot which straddles the Bradford and Calderdale border has been busy with walkers, families and cyclists enjoying the weather.

"Lots of people were spoken with and advised regarding safe and legal parking to ensure all road users remains safe along Station Road.

"Officers were present to offer advice to anyone who needed it regarding all matters community and policing.

"It has come to officers attention that a rumour spread on Social Media that officers were there fining people regarding COVID-19.

"This was not the case, and those who spoke with officers knew this.

"If you see police out in your community, please feel free to come speak with us. We are always happy to chat, and give advice, and take feedback where possible. Your Neighbourhood Policing Teams are here to listen to community concerns and where possible and proportionate, act on them."
