Police attend West Yorkshire car meet organised on Facebook with drivers 'revving engines' so loud it could be heard across town

Officers attended the meet arranged through Facebook at the Northgate Retail Park in Heckmondwike.

The group were 'very polite in genera and engaging with officers', police said.

However - 'as usual' - a small number of the drivers spoilt it for the group by revving their engines loudly, wheel spinning and driving to excess speed, police added.

The noise could be heard 'across Heckmondwike' according to police.

Officers in Batley said: "This type of behaviour is both dangerous and antisocial and will not be tolerated on our streets.

"Officers noted the details of all vehicles in attendance and relevant reports will be submitted.

"Several section 59 warnings will also be sent to the owners of vehicles sighted to be driving in an anti social manner.

"The warning which lasts for 12 months is recorded against both the owner/driver and the vehicle.

"Meaning if either are stopped again in similar circumstances, officers have the power to seize the vehicle there and then."
