It happened in the early hours of Sunday, April 12 in Chapeltown.

Officers from the Operation Jemlock team, who tackle serious violent crime and knife crime across West Yorkshire, said: "Even when the country is on lockdown, people are still carrying weapons like this on the streets of Leeds.

"Op Jemlock Officers seized this after it was thrown from a vehicle in the Chapeltown area during a pursuit."

Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, Operation Jemlock officers stopped and searched a man in the early hours on Monday, April 13.

Police in the Newsome area of Huddersfield found drugs and the weapon during the search.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

The samurai sword was seized.
