Parents have been visited by police after a spate of reports of children throwing bricks and stones at cars and buses in West Yorkshire.

Officers in Batley and Spen said they had spent Thursday (February 11) visiting children and parents across the Gomersal area following a spate of reports for children throwing stones and bricks at cars and buses in the area.

Police said 'a number of youths have been identified' and officers 'will be working along side the youth offending team to progress the issue'.

Elsewhere, officers also seized two cars in the Gomersal area believed to be on fraudulent insurance policies.

Police said: "Volvo was seized in Birstall this afternoon after it failed to stop for our officers.

"The vehicle was located parked up and has been seized for forensic work.

"The driver who had already been identified will be getting an invite to court through the post.

"The Volkswagen was seized from Cleckheaton after it was initially reported as obstructing.

"Checks on the vehicle showed it was registered with false details.
