Over 10 drivers reported to court in North East Leeds areas by West Yorkshire Police

Over 10 drivers have been reported to court on just two days by the West Yorkshire Police Leeds North East team.

Police officers from the team have been working with their Safer Roads colleagues in Wetherby, Harewood and Alwoodley.

On December 8 in the Wetherby and Harewood wards, five people were reported to court, four people warned about speeding and one car was seized for having no insurance.

One car was also stopped and searched and one person dealt with for possessing cannabis.

On December 17 the officers worked in the Alwoodley ward where six drivers were reported to court and give were given a warning for being slightly over the limit.

An initial post on the West Yorkshire Police - Leeds North East Facebook page said: "On 8 December we were working with Safer Roads colleagues in Wetherby and Harewood wards.

"4 people given advice regarding their speed, 5 people were reported to court, 1 car was seized for no insurance, 1 stop and search and 1 person dealt with for possessing cannabis. #fatal4"

The next post said: "Good morning, on 17 December Leeds North East NPT were working with colleagues from Safer Roads in the Alwoodley ward.

"This saw 6 motorists being reported to Court and 5 motorists who were slightly over the limit given a warning.

"Please watch your speed #fatal4"
