Heap was arrested and initially denied having any sexual interest in children.

He claimed he began looking at the images because he had been looking for something to do.

Heap told officers he wanted to set up a blog to stop people viewing the vile images and he had been carrying out research.

Heap, of Stonebridge Approach, Farnley, pleading guilty to 21 offences of making indecent images of children.

The court heard Heap had now begun to acknowledge that he needed help.

He was made the subject of a three-year community and supervision order. Heap must also go on the sex offenders register for five years.

Judge Christopher Batty said: “You need to understand that what these little boys and little girls go through is utterly horrific.

“One cannot possibly image the pain and the suffering they endure. All so people like you can get sexual gratification from them.”
