Police investigating the theft of Christmas presents during a New Year’s Day burglary have released a CCTV image of a man they are looking for.

Officers in Pontefract are appealing for information after the incident at a property on Walkergate in the early hours of January 1.

Detective Constable Helen Bentley, of Wakefield CID, said: “A number of items were taken during the burglary including Christmas presents which were due to be given to relatives. Stolen goods included electrical items.”

After pursuing other lines of inquiry, police have released the CCTV still of a man they say they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

“I am appealing directly to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or knows this man to get in contact,” Det Con Bentley added.
