Knife-wielding robbers threatened a man after breaking into his home while his pregnant partner and young child slept upstairs.

The victim was in the kitchen of his house on Silcoates Street, Wakefield, when six men ran burst through his door brandishing a knife and demanding money. They searched the house and threw a microwave at him before getting away with the victim’s wallet and lighter and escaping in a dark coloured car.

The gang were white. Three or four of them wore balaclavas.

The victim received a cut arm during the incident, which happened at 11.15pm on Monday.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det Con Bryn Hampshire, of Wakefield CID, said: “This was a frightening attack on one man by a large group of individuals who struck when a young child and pregnant woman were in the house.”

Anyone with information should call Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
