Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries after crashing into bus stop on A6110 Ring Road Wortley

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into a bus stop in Wortley.

It happened just after 4.30pm on Saturday (January 30) on the A6110 Ring Road.

The motorcyclist hit the bus shelter near the junction with Branch Road, heading west.

The rider, who was a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The road was closed for more than two hours, reopening at 7pm.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 4.36pm on Saturday (30/1) police were called to a road traffic collision on the A6110 Ring Road, Wortley.

"A motorcycle had collided with a bus shelter near to the junction with Branch Road.

"The road reopened at about 7pm.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident."
