Motorbike that sounded like it was 'racing in the Isle of Man TT' seized in Leeds

Police spotted the bike in Armley on Thursday, May 14 after it drew attention with its noisy engine.

Officers from the Leeds Leeds District Off Road Bike Team joked that it "sounded like a superbike racing in the Isle of Man TT.

The driver of the bike had forgotten to renew their license when it expired and the bike was seized.

Over in Calverley Woods, a green motorbike was seized after complaints from residents.

Another two warnings were issued in west Leeds to drivers who were driving in an anti-social manner and another man was issued a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.

The West Yorkshire Police Leeds West team said: "Officers from the Leeds District Off Road Bike Team were busy in the West area of Leeds yesterday.

"Firstly there was the orange motorbike seized in Armley.

"Officers attention was drawn to the bike as it sounded like a superbike racing in the Isle of Man TT.

"Alas it was nothing like a superbike and turns out the rider had forgotten to renew their CBT three years ago. So the bike was seized.

"The green bike was seized from the Calverley area. After numerous complaints from residents officers attended Calverley Woods where they came across a rider on a small green pit bike.

"The riders face said it all when they saw officers coming! Special thanks to the NPT Sergeant who came to push the bike out of the woods whilst we had a breather!

"On top of that officers have issued 2 Section 59 warnings for driving / riding vehicles in an Anti Social Manner.

"A ticket was also issued to a motorist who forgot they had to wear their seatbelt whilst driving."
