Miraculous escape after tractor landed on top of VW Beetle in crash

A motorist and their passenger miraculously escaped this mangled car wreck without serious injury - after an enormous tractor landed on top of their vehicle.

The tractor was towing slurry at the time of the smash, which ended with the JCB on top of the smaller vehicle.

Dramatic pictures taken at the scene show the VW on its side as one of the tractor's giant wheels crushes it from above.

A large red tanker full of slurry can be seen attached to the back of the JCB.

A passenger was trapped inside the car as a result of the crash and had to be rescued by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

They were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the driver also went with minor injuries.

The JCB driver was uninjured.

A photo taken after the tractor was moved shows the devastating damage suffered by the Beetle, which was left almost unrecognisable.
