Men wearing St Patrick's Day hats sought by police after '˜unprovoked' attack on two teenagers in Leeds

TWO teenagers were assaulted outside Leeds train station by men wearing St Patrick's Day Guinness hats.

The two friends from Leeds were returning from the Tyne and Wear derby in Newcastle when three men, all wearing Guinness St Patrick’s Day hats, approached them.

One of the men verbally abused one of the victims before punching him in the head several times.

When his friend tried to intervene and stop the attacker, he was also punched to the ground.

The suspect then left in a taxi to Bingley.

Detective Sergeant Tom Eastwood, from British Transport Police, said: “Both the victims were left with cuts and bruises to their faces and grazed arms and elbows.

“This was completely unprovoked and violent behaviour displayed by the man towards two young men who were simply returning home from a day out watching football.

“It’s vital we trace the person responsible, if you recognise the man pictured, please contact us.”
