Masked robbers threatened bookie’s worker with knife

Police are hunting a masked robber duo who targeted a bookmakers’ shop in Pontefract on Sunday night.

The incident happened at around 8.35pm, when the two men entered the shop at The Circle, threatening the 27-year-old female worker with what is believed to be a knife and making demands for money.

The suspects jumped over the counter, grabbing an amount of cash before making off.

The first suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5”8” tall of stocky build with brown eyes. He was wearing blue overalls, a black hat and face covering that had a skeleton design.

The second suspect was 5”7” tall, of skinny build wearing blue overalls and black face covering.

Detective Inspector David Rogerson of Wakefield District CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 8.35pm last night and may have seen the suspects before or after the incident to come forward to the police by calling us on 101, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
