Man taken to hospital with serious injuries after incident at scrap metal yard in West Leeds

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an incident at a scrap metal yard in West Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they received a call from the ambulance service at about 12pm on Friday.

They were called to reports of a worker injury at Metal Interests (Northern) Ltd at Vickersdale Works in Stanningley.

The 36-year-old man had suffered a serious injury to his hand.

He was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.

His injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening.

Police are currently determining circumstances of incident.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust spokeswoman said: "We have attended an incident at industrial premises in Vickers Street, Stanningley, Leeds at lunchtime today.

"An ambulance and the air ambulance were dispatched to the scene and a male patient was conveyed by land ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary."
