Man taken to hospital after crashing into pedestrian crossing on A65 Kirkstall Road

A man has been taken to hospital after crashing into a pedestrian crossing on Kirkstall Road.

The major route into Leeds was closed off for the majority of the morning while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police said the driver suffered a medical episode.

Officers were called to the junction with Burley Wood Mount shortly before 9.30am.

The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia had crashed into the pedestrian crossing.

The man was then taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road reopened at 12.40pm once the scene was cleared of debris.
