Man seriously injured in attack at West Yorkshire pub

A MAN suffered serious facial injuries during an assault at a pub in Birstall near Batley.

Police said the 38-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment after he was assaulted by two men at the Old Wine and Spirit pub on Huddersfield Road.

The attack happened between 11.30pm on Saturday May 7 and 12.30pm on Sunday May 8, but police only released details today.

Detective Constable Oliver Coates of Kirklees CID, said: “This was a violent assault and we are appealing to members of the public who were at the pub that evening who may have witnessed this incident.

During a hearing held at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, Callum Shepherd, 20, was jailed for 10 months for dangerous driving, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
