Officers were on patrol in a CCTV van in Alexandra Road, Burley, at about 9.15pm on November 5 when a group of men began setting off fireworks in the street.

One man, who had his face partially covered, lit a large rocket and threw it at the van.

It hit the windscreen.

Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to identify.

Officers hope that while his face is not clearly visible on the images someone will still recognise him.

They have described the man as Asian, aged about 20, and of slim build.

He was wearing a grey jacket, which had black shoulders and sleeves, black gloves and dark tracksuit bottoms.

He was carrying a large Foot Asylum bag which hung across his body.
