Man injured after being attacked with his own walking stick in Leeds

A MAN was attacked with his own walking stick after an altercation in Cookridge, Leeds.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the assault at around 2pm on Monday, September 7, at Tinshill Road near the Animal Planet shop.

The incident took place after a traffic dispute between the victim and two men, one with a silver or white push cycle.

The 39-year-old victim received treatment for minor injuries.

Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Mark Atkinson, of Leeds District CID, said: “This was an assault on a man with a visible disability in which the very item he uses for support was used as a weapon against him.

“We are aware of mobile phone footage of the aftermath of this incident being shared on social media and we would urge anyone with such footage or who witnessed the incident itself to please get in contact as a matter of urgency.”
