The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital.

It happened at 2.25pm on Thursday, June 18, on Bywell Road, at the junction with Litchfield Road, in Dewsbury.

The driver of a White VW Golf collided with a tree immediately after it was asked to stop for officers.

Police are appealing for information following the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who saw the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision is asked to contact PC 1282 Williamson in the Roads Policing Unit on 101, or use the online options at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus quoting log number 848 of 18 June.

Officers would also ask for anyone with Dashcam footage, or any further information to also contact police.
