Man in court charged with murder of Leeds student Billy Jacob Mankelow
A man has appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court today charged with murdering a 20-year-old student in the city centre.
Richard Dennis Langdon Danter, 31, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the short hearing.
Leeds student Billy Jacob Mankelow was found with serious head injuries at 3.20am on Saturday under the railway arches at Swinegate, near Leeds City Station.
His family rushed up from Kent to be at his beside at Leeds General Infirmary where he underwent surgery. He died on Sunday.
District Judge Marie Mallon told Danter, who was dressed in a grey sweat shirt and jeans, that he will appear before Leeds Crown Court tomorrow. (April 29)
He was then remanded into custody.
