Man charged with armed robbery of Leeds pharmacy and petrol station on same day UPDATED

A man has been charged with carrying out two armed shop robberies in Leeds in the space of 12 hours.

Michael Hurd, of Bracken Court, Holbeck, is accused of raiding the Esso garage, on Armley Road, Armley, and Lloyds Pharmacy, in Meanwood Road, Meanwood, on Friday.

In the incident at Esso, a man armed with a knife is alleged to have threatened staff.

In the incident at Lloyds, staff reported being threatened by a man brandishing what appeared to be a handgun who escaped with prescription drugs.

Hurd, 31, is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon and possession of an imitation firearm.
