Man and woman arrested for attempted murder after woman hit by car in Leeds

Police in Leeds have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was hit by a car in Harehills.

Officers believe a car was deliberately driven into a 24-year-old woman on Foundry Approach, near the junction with Harehills Park View, at 12.42am on Saturday.

The woman was walking with two friends when she was knocked down by a silver Vauxhall Corsa, following an altercation with the occupants of the car shortly before.

The car then left the scene and has still not been found.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was discharged later on Saturday morning.

A 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to the incident.

They were later released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
