The video shows a group of youths crowded around a rough sleeper, before the victim has his shoes stolen and milk poured over his head.

Volunteer David Hedley, who ran last year's ten-day 'Tent City', believes the attack took place on Briggate.

The video was filmed on Snapchat before it circulated on social media on Saturday night, with shocked parents sharing the footage.

David said: "I've spoken to parents and taken down the video - it had thousands of shares in a few minutes and went a bit crackers.

“It’s despicable behaviour.

"Our outreach will be passing Briggate today and we will look out for this victim.”

David has been working with parents to identify those in the video and says he will report the incident to police today.
