PCSO Coulthard did not manage to catch the man, but luckily came away with no broken bones.

He has muddy trousers and is a "tad sore".

The officer tweeted: "Second shift back and I have my first injury of 2021.

"Chasing a shoplifter and just as I’m within inches from grabbing him, I decide to slip on the icy stairs and cut my hand, graze my elbow and bust my nose.

"All okay, no broken bones...just muddy trousers!"
