Police are guarding a scene in Chapeltown after an incident overnight where residents heard loud bangs assumed to be gun shots.

It happened in Scott Hall Grove.
Stefan Watkins, who lives in Scott Hall Place, was in his conservatory around 9pm when he heard three loud bangs, which he says were definitely gun shots.
He said: "I was eating a sandwich in my conservatory when I heard 'bang, bang, bang'.
"I thought 'what the hell was that?'
"It was definitely not fireworks.
"The police arrived around ten past one.
"I'm not surprised - there's always coppers round here.
"It will be warning shots is my guess."
Other residents living closer to the scene didn’t hear anything however.
The YEP has contacted the police for more information.
