A vandal threw a beer barrel through the window of a police van in Leeds.

British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information after the incident outside Leeds railway station - and have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace.

Investigating officer PC Dan Worthington said: “A man picked up a small beer barrel from outside a pub near the station and threw it through the rear window of BTP van parked on New Station Street causing it to smash.

“Reckless criminal damage such as this will not be tolerated. The van had to be taken out of service, reducing our capabilities to respond in an emergency while it was being fixed.”

The incident happened on December 8. Call BTP on 0800 405040 with information.
