Latest: Leeds men appear in court on firearms charges

Four men appeared before magistrates today after being charged in relation to a firearms incident near St James's Hospital in Leeds.

Officers were called to Beckett Street in Burmantofts at about 2.15pm on Friday following reports of shots being fired.

Police charged Daniel Brown, 21, of Farrow Road, Wortley, and Jordan Brown, 21, of Bodmin Road, Middleton, with firearms and affray offences.

Ryan Freeman, 26, of Boggart Hill Crescent, Seacroft, and James Thrush, 27, of Barncroft Drive, also Seacroft, were charged with affray and dangerous driving.

All four appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The case was sent to Leeds Crown Court, where a hearing is due to take place on 4 July.

The men were all remanded into custody until the hearing.

Police are continuing their inquiries into Friday’s incident, which they have described as a “firearms related disturbance”.
