Knife-wielding robber in Leeds travel agents robbery

A masked man armed with a knife threatened staff at a Leeds travel agents before escaping with a large amount of cash.

He walked into Thomsons, on Town Street, Horsforth, shortly after 9.30am on Tuesday and ordered two women to open the safe.

He escaped with cash in various currencies.

Detective Inspector Andy Welbourn, of Leeds District CID, said: “No-one was injured in the incident but the staff members were left very shaken by what happened. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously.”

The robber had his face covered and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with any information should call PC Kelda Rogerson at Weetwood police station via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Police said they were not linking the incident to a number of similar incidents in north west Leeds in recent months.
