Knife and baseball bat found after two boys run from police in Burmantofts

A knife and a baseball bat were found by police in the Haslewoods area of Burmantofts.

East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team officers were on patrol in the area on Saturday, January 23, after people living there raised concerns about "organised criminal groups", police said.

Two boys ran off after being spotted by officer Daniels and police community support officer Moseley.

The officers discovered the weapons, which will be destroyed, after searching the area.

A police spokesman said: "The Burmantofts and Richmond Hill Neighbourhood Policing Team are committed to addressing community concerns raised and disrupting any activity, which could lead to serious and organised crime.

"Officers will continue to proactively patrol and conduct searches of the area in order to keep communities safe and feeling safe.

"Information from the local communities we serve, plays a vital role in tackling and addressing serious and organised crime.
