Jealous boyfriend threatened to slit partner's throat and attacked man with metal pole after Leeds nightclub row

A controlling boyfriend has been jailed for attacking his girlfriend and their two friends during a row after she spoke to another man in a nightclub.

Christopher Stafford-Tribble used a metal pole to attack one his victims and threatened to slit his partner's throat during the disturbance in Morley.

The incident happened after Stafford-Tribble and his partner travelled from their home in Cornwall for night out in Leeds on January 25 this year.

The couple picked up a man and a woman who they were friends with on the way to Yorkshire.

They then travelled to a house on Fountain Street, Morley, which they had rented for the night.

Keith Allen, prosecuting, said all four of them went to a nightclub in Leeds city centre.

During the evening Stafford-Tribble became angry when he saw his partner talking to a man.

There was a confrontation between the two men and Stafford-Tribble was ejected from the club by doormen.

Police were called when he tried to get back inside the premises and officers took him back to the property in Morley.

His partner then received 48 missed calls from the defendant while she was in the club.

Stafford-Tribble also managed to access her Facbook account and changed her password.

The woman and the two friends returned to the house in Morley at 4.30am.

The handle to the front door had been snapped but there was no sign of Stafford-Tribble inside the property.

They put a sofa up against the door to prevent him from getting in.

Stafford-Tribble turned up at the the property at 7am and began shouting abuse through the window.

He threatened to kill his girlfriend and the two friends before throwing a brick through the window.

Mr Allen said they contacted police pleading for help.

Stafford-Tribble's girlfriend then left the house and tried to run to a taxi but he grabbed her in a bear hug and attempted to bite her.

He threatened to slit her throat and dragged her along the ground.

The two friends suffered injuries as they tried to intervene.

Stafford-Tribble struck the male friend across the head with a metal pole during the scuffle.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested Stafford-Tribble and the other man.

The other man was later released from custody without charge.

Stafford Tribble, of Bank Street, Newquay, Cornwall, pleaded guilty to affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault and criminal damage.

The woman described in a victim statement to the court how she had been in a relationship with Stafford-Tribble for six months and he had been controlling in his behaviour towards her,

She described how she feared she would die during the incident.

She said: "Christopher's actions have destroyed my life completely in every respect."

Charlotte Rimmer, mitigating, said Stafford-Tribble had suffered the most serious injuries during the incident.

Ms Rimmer said her client had to be taken to hospital on a spinal board after the disturbance and received a large gash to his head.

She said the defendant had been in prison since the incident and had lost his home and job as a result.

The lawyer added: "He involved himself involvved in an ugly incident and showed a lack of self-control."

Stafford-Tribble was given an 18-month sentence.
