Iveson Drive police incident: Man arrested after officers attacked while investigating domestic assault in Leeds

A man has been arrested after police officers were attacked in Leeds.

A report of a domestic assault against a woman was made to West Yorkshire Police at 3.15pm today (Thursday).

As officers made enquiries in Iveson Drive, Lawnswood, they were attacked by a man - with three officers sustaining minor injuries.

They called in for back-up and more police were sent to the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers and grievous bodily harm and was taken into custody.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police added: "The woman was taken to hospital for treatment. She continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

"Enquiries are continuing at the scene."
