'I thought it was an earthquake': Emergency services on scene of huge explosion in Leeds

The emergency services are on the scene of a Leeds street this afternoon following a reported explosion.

Fire service crews were called to the Wellington Hill area of Leeds, the Yorkshire Evening Post understands.

Crews arrived shortly after 2pm to a domestic property on Wetherby road in Roundhay.

Two crews from Killingbeck and a crew from Moortown are at the scene, it was confirmed.

One witness told the Yorkshire Evening Post that residents rushed out of their homes following a loud bang.

She said: "I have never seen so many people rush out of their houses in one go!

"I rang 101 to check if it was an earthquake because the building shook and the windows physically moved.

"All the neighbours ran outside.

"I was worried about going back in in case of an aftershock."
