The victim was walking to work for a night shift in June when she reported being grabbed by a man who ambushed her and pushed her to the ground at Holbeck Moor.

Christie, not her real name, says it has been nearly six months since she reported the attack and fears the culprit could still be out there.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, she said: "I took the same route to work every night as I was working nights. I was walking through the park at Holbeck Moor when I could feel someone behind me, but every time I turned around there was no-one there so I got my phone out and carried on walking.

"Then a guy out of nowhere jumped on my back and threw me to the floor. I wriggled out from underneath him trying to catch my breath when I saw a piece of wood and I smacked him over the head with it.

"The weird part is I never saw any wood when I was walking so if he brought it and dropped it I don't know."

Christie told how she fled the scene terrified, calling the police in fear she had killed her attacker.

"I phoned the police and told them, 'I think I may have killed a man'. I told them I couldn't stay as I was going to be late for work so I ran the rest of the way to work and started my shift. Then the police came to take my statement.

"They told me that they had officers at the scene and they searched the park but there was no sign of him.

"The next day the police came to my house and brought me to the park to sow them exactly where it happened."

Since reporting the attack, Christie said she has not heard anything and that no-one was ever arrested in connection.

"I thought all this would have been solved by now", she added.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said enquiries were carried out following the report on June 3, however not enough evidence was found to establish the exact circumstances of the incident, or any leads or witnesses.
