Police are looking for a man who inappropriately touched a woman on a train travelling to Leeds.

He got on at Manchester before sitting on the floor next to the 23-year-old’s fold-down seat in the vestibule area.

PC Andrew Jones, of British Transport Police, said: “He then attempted to engage her in conversation by asking her personal questions then began to stroke her leg and hands.

“The victim left the train at Huddersfield and raised the alarm.”

The man then got off at Leeds.

PC Jones added: “Any form of unwanted sexual behaviour is extremely disturbing and we are committed to tackling these offences in whatever form they take. Understandably the victim was very shaken by this upsetting incident.

“Thankfully crimes of this nature are infrequent on the railway but, when they do happen, they are all the more frightening because of the relatively confined space.”

Police want to speak to the man pictured.
