Girl run over on way to school in Seacroft after "car mounts path" according to eyewitness

A girl was run over on her way to school on Friday morning after a car "mounted the path", an eyewitness said.

Police said they were called to reports of a crash involving one vehicle and one pedestrian near the junction of Foundry Mill Street and Ironwood shortly after 9am this morning.

The pedestrian has been taken to hospital, police confirmed.

One woman said her daughter witnessed the horrific incident.

She said a car mounted the path before a schoolgirl was hit.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Ironwood at 9.15 this morning to reports of a RTC involving one vehicle and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian has been taken to hospital for a precautionary check up."

The girl was taken to hospital by ambulance after the incident.
