Fartown shooting: Man dies after being shot in Huddersfield as police make murder arrest

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a shooting in Huddersfield.

Police were called to Ripon Avenue, Fartown, at about 9pm on Saturday to reports that a man had been injured in a shooting.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital but died a short time later from his injuries.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police has confirmed.

He remains in custody.

Officers have closed a number of roads in the area as they carry out an investigation into the murder.

Neighbourhood policing patrols have been stepped up in the area.
