A car's engine was ripped from the vehicle after a crash on the M62 during storm Ciara.

PC Martin Willis, who policies the M62 motorway across West Yorkshire, urged people to "slow down" as he shared the shocking footage on Twitter.

In the video, the cars mangled engine can be seen strewn across the lanes.

Officers managed to drag it away to allow traffic to move again.

The traffic officer said: "Last night it was ladders in the carriageway. Tonight it's an engine!

"The impact from this collision was so severe it ripped it from the vehicle.

"We managed to drag it from lane 3 to get traffic moving again. Storm Ciara is still unrelenting! #slowdown."
