Driver arrested in North Leeds police operation over driving under drug influence

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both cannabis and cocaine in Leeds.

On January 26, officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit worked with the North West Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team to add extra patrols in north west Leeds.

Otley, Yeadon, Rawdon and Guiseley were patrolled by police and drivers were pulled over and spoken to.

One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both cannabis and cocaine, whilst one vehicle was also seized for not having any insurance.

A further 11 speeding tickets were handed out by the officers.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Leeds North West Facebook page said: "26th January, specialist officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit worked in partnership with your local NPT to create an increased police presence on the roads of North West Leeds.

"Areas patrolled included: Otley, Yeadon, Rawdon & Guiseley.

"Where possible, drivers were pulled over, spoken to & educated on safer driving.

"Results from the operation included: 11x Speeding Tickets, 1x Vehicle seized for not having any insurance and 1x driver arrested for driving whilst under the influence of both Cannabis & Cocaine."
