Dangerous driver ploughed into fence at Leeds park
Mohammed Rafiq was sentenced to seven months over the incident which ended when he crashed into the perimeter fence of Cross Flatts Park, Beeston, Leeds, in the early hours of October 3 this year.
Leeds Crown Court heard police spotted Rafiq driving a VW Bora around 2am and signalled for him to pull over after becoming suspicious of the way he was driving.

Hide AdAnthony Moore, prosecuting, Rafiq then sped off and crossed junctions without stopping.
He reached 70mph in 40mph zones along Dewsbury Road.
Rafia lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the fence at the bottom of the park.
Rafiq, 23, of Upland Grove, Oakwood, then ran from the car.
He was chased by officers and detained a short distance from the scene of the crash.
The car was searched and six wraps of heroin and cocaine were found inside the vehicle.

Hide AdRafiq pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, having no insurance, having no licence, possession of heroin and possession of cocaine.
The court heard Rafiq has previous convictions for violence and drug offences.
Rafiq was given a prison sentence in 2013 and was released on licence a month before the incident.
Alisdair McDonald, mitigating, said Rafiq’s offending was linked to peer pressure and his addiction to drugs.

Hide AdJudge Robin Mairs told Rafiq: “You are 23 years of age and are rapidly accruing an unenviable list of convictions.
“It is good fortune, and good fortune alone, that your driving did not cause significant injury to others.
“I have read everything about you in the pre-sentence report but, such is the seriousness of the offence, only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified.”
