Something cheesy is about to hit Leeds – and it’s going to be Gouda (sorry).

A new cheese restaurant is opening in Leeds city centre this week.

The new venture – by cheese club Homage2Fromage and the Jones Bar Group – is launching at LAB bar on Merrion Way.

Due to open to the public on Friday, October 9, it will serve up everything from fondue and raclette to Yorkshire Rarebit and cheesy pizzas. Since City Buzz broke the news, cheese fans have been flocking to Twitter and Facebook to celebrate the arrival of the new eatery.

For now, it’s just a pop-up concept, which will run for six months.

But we’re sure it’s going to be a big success, and if so, it may not be the last we’ll hear of it.

Popular Leeds cheese club Homage2Fromage hosts regular meetings at The Adelphi, as well as in Sheffield, Bradford and Harrogate.

But this is the biggest project they’ve undertaken so far.

Vickie Rogerson, from Homage2Fromage, said: “The response we’ve had to the restaurant has been very overwhelming.

“Leeds really does love cheese!”
