THERE are some restaurants that have raised the bar for the rest of the city’s dining scene.
Take Kendells Bistro, which has snapped up several of the YEP’s Oliver Awards, or Man Behind the Curtain, which pushes culinary boundaries with its unusual creations.
But there’s change afoot at Crafthouse and Angelica, and it’s about to throw down the gauntlet.
The rooftop restaurant at Trinity Leeds has taken on award-winning chef Lee Murdoch.
New executive head chef Lee has worked around the world, and was previously at the award-winning 55&5th The Grill restaurant in Abu Dhabi, which was BBC Good Food’s Restaurant of the Year.
Scottish-born Lee, 29, also worked at the five-star Turnberry Resort Hotel, where he won an Award of Excellence from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. So needless to say, he’s at the top of his game.
City Buzz got to try his wagyu tasting menu this week, and can’t speak highly enough of the food, and of Lee and his hard-working team.
Lee hopes to host more five-course tasting events in the future, and has come up with a whole new menu for both sites.
We’re sure the city’s newest chef will be a recipe for success.
