Its bar area – called Bird and Beats – is being transformed into a private karaoke bar.

Owner Steve Hawkin is the man behind well-known nightspot OK Karaoke on East Parade, which closed back in 2013.

Speaking to City Buzz, he said he’s still keen to continue with a karaoke brand.

“I’ve still got all of my equipment from OK Karaoke and the most popular room to hire there was our biggest room for 40 people, so it made sense to do something similar here,” he explains.

“People will be able to hire the space for an hour or two.

“I got the idea after visiting a bar in Amsterdam.

“There will be loads of neon lights and you can dine at the restaurant beforehand as part of a package deal.”

Karaoke Beats will be available to rent for groups of up to 50 people, and visitors can even hit the decks and DJ for themselves.

The venue is expected to open to the public in mid-December.
