Children evacuated by teachers due to fire at Bramley St Peter's C Of E Primary School

Children were evacuated by teachers at a Leeds primary school today as the emergency services attended to deal with a fire on the first floor.

Fire crews attended a small fire on the first floor of Bramley St Peter's C of E school at 9.42am this morning.

The fire - reported as 50m x 50m - was quickly dealt with and did not spread within the school, the fire service confirmed.

Children were evacuated by teachers prior to the arrival of the Fire Service.

No-one was injured, the fire service told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

A Leeds City Council spokesperson said: “Following the activation of an automatic fire alarm in the toilets of Bramley St Peter's Primary School, West Yorkshire Fire Service were called.

"A small fire was discovered and subsequently extinguished.

"All staff and pupils have returned safely to the school and lessons have taken place as normal today.”

Crews from Stanningley, Leeds, Bradford & Rawdon attended.

Four breathing apparatus, two hose reels & positive pressure ventilation were used to extinguish the fire.
