Chapeltown crash: Man arrested after child seriously injured in Leeds horror crash

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a child was seriously injured in a crash in Leeds.

It happened at about 6.10pm on Sunday on Spencer Place in Chapeltown.

A white Nissan Navara and a blue Volvo V40 crashed at the junction with Gipton Avenue.

The Nissan was travelling on Spencer Place towards Roundhay Road when it crashed with the Volvo, which was crossing from Gipton Avenue towards Louis Street.

The Volvo then hit a tree.

A child in the Volvo was seriously injured and remains in hospital. A man, aged in his 50s, was also seriously injured.

An occupant of the Nissan, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested in connection with the crash.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who saw either of the vehicles driving in the area before the crash to get in touch.

Anyone who has dashcam footage of the crash or of either vehicle is also asked to contact officers.
