Police are appealing for help to identify a man wanted over the rape of a woman near St James’s Hospital in Leeds in the early hours of the morning.

Officers have released a CCTV image after a woman was allegedly attacked on the grassed area opposite the Bexley Wing on Beckett Street on Saturday, July 26.

The incident happened between 5.20am and 5.40am.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan, of West Yorkshire Police’s protective services crime department, said: “We want to speak to this man as he might have information important to our enquiries. I would ask this man, or anyone who knows this man, to contact police.”

Call protective services on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate the rape of a woman in the disabled toilets of the hospital’s Gledhow wing on August 3.

In that incident a heavily-tattoed Eastern European man attacked a 25-year-old woman.

The two attacks are not thought to be related.
