Detectives investigating the brutal rape of a 23-year-old woman have released CCTV footage of three men they want to speak to.

The woman was attacked and raped as she walked along a ginnel between Barden Road and Malham Road in the Eastmoor area of Wakefield at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, December 19.

SOUGHT BY POLICE: Three men caught on CCTV close to the scene of the attack.

West Yorkshire Police have released CCTV footage which shows three men walking close to the scene on the night the attack happened.

The victim has described her attacker as a thin white man with dark, spiky, straight hair.

He was wearing a hooded top with a silver coloured strip down the hood.

Det Supt Mark Ridley, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “A team of detectives and specialist investigators continue to work on this enquiry and we are today releasing moving CCTV footage which shows three men we would like to speak to.

“We believe these men may have witnessed the incident or have information which could assist us.

“I would ask them or anyone who may have witnessed
what took place to come forward.”

Det Sup Ridley added: “Specially trained officers are continuing to support the 23-year-old victim and we continue to appeal for assistance to catch the man responsible for what has been an extremely serious and brutal offence.

“I would ask anyone has information about him to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 or to contact CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The YEP understands police are not linking the rape on December 19 with the alleged rape of a woman just days earlier in a ginnel behind Wakefield’s maximum security prison on Love Lane.

Two youths, aged 16 and 17, remain on police bail after being quizzed on suspicion of raping a woman in a ginnel between the prison and the Bezier printing factory off Balne Lane at around 8pm on Saturday December 15.
