Car stolen from West Yorkshire found in 'chop shop' almost 60 miles away

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police tracked the stolen car to an address in Retford after being alert to the burglary.

They went to the address in Westfield Road and found car parts and stripped down cars.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Moore, who is investigating the incident, said: “A chop shop is a place where stolen cars and broken down into parts, which are either added to other cars or sold, often on online marketplace websites.

“The use of chop shops is clearly something we want to tackle as part of our work to disrupt the market for stolen cars. We know what an impact it has on someone when their car is stolen, which is why we work together with other forces to take action when there is information about a stolen vehicle.”

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.
