A would-be burglar escaped after being confronted by a neighbour as he tried to break into a house in Leeds.

Police have released an e-fit image of a man they want to identify over the early hours incident in Holbeck.

The man initially tried to get into the house in Ingram Close by trying the front door handle before climbing over a fence and trying the back door.

He was challenged by a neighbour and left the scene.

The offence happened between 1.50am and 2am on November 30.

The man was white, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall and slim, with short, cropped dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and spoke with a local accent.

PC Alexander Daniels, of Leeds neighbourhood crime team, said: “We would urge anyone who recognises the man pictured in this e-fit image to get in touch.

“Similarly, if you have information about this offence please call us on 101.”
