A bungling robber dropped a weapon and cash after raiding a bank in Leeds.

The thief – who was thought to have been acting alone – threatened staff at the Osmondthorpe branch of Yorkshire Bank, on York Road, with what looked like a gun at about 3.30pm yesterday before escaping with a quantity of money.

However, it is understood he then dropped the weapon and the cash as he escaped.

The bank was cordoned off while officers carried out inquiries. They were searching for suspects last night.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said no-one was injured.

Anyone with information should call CID at Stainbeck police station via 101.
