Boy, 10, involved in armed robbery at Wakefield travel agents

A child aged about 10 was involved in an armed raid on a travel agents.

Two men, armed with a knife, targeted the store on Warrengate in Wakefield yesterday.

Detective Inspector Lester Lee, of Wakefield CID, said: “Two men with a child, who is believed to have been around 10 years old, threatened staff with a knife before escaping on foot with cash and a mobile phone.”

The incident happened at about 12.50pm.

Both men were white. One was about 5ft 5ins tall, of large build and was wearing jeans and a blue coloured top.

His accomplice was about 5ft 3ins tall and slim and was wearing jeans.

The boy had red hair.

“The men are thought to have split up as they headed into the city centre on foot following the robbery,” Det Insp Lee added.

“Fortunately no-one was seriously injured in the incident but the staff have been left understandably shaken.”
